Movies: July 2003 Archives

I just saw the Pirates of the Carribean today and loved it! It is certinaly the supprise hit of the summer and in my top 2 list for the year. And it kept me entertained during its longer than usual length. It certainly is a Disney movie, and I was pleasantly supprised that the Disney executives did not interfere or muck with the movie too much (there was little swearing but still a lot of violence). I saw The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen today and was very dissapointed. Here is Hollywood makes a movie: steal characters from stories and alter them, put them together, and make sure that you ignore any technological timeline for when items were created and used. It also used far too much of the Generation-X, too fast spliced, visual blender of a story-telling that always detracts from a movie rather than enhances it. Spoilers folllow...

Terminator 3 review

I saw Terminator 3 last Sunday.
And you won't like it when I am Ang Lee... I saw the Hulk last Saturday and was very dissapointed. Watching Jennifer Connelly was not worth the $5. The Hulk's struggle to hold his inner rage was portrayed well. The split screens were very annoying. I thought that they were a feeble attempt at a comic book visual format. The science was really bad. Spoilers follow...
